Another incredible weekend in the books! Four talented artists from across the country ( CA —> VA ) joined us for a weekend intensive filled with 1-on-1 coaching with some of the best in the business.
It’s always a pleasure working with these talented young artists. They are daring, bold, and vulnerable!
Sheridan and I started New Roots Empower with the idea of becoming the mentors we wish we had, while growing a career in the music industry. This past weekend intensive proved yet again the power of a supportive and uplifting community and the impact we can have when we work to elevate each other.
A Warm Greeting
We believe that our female artists thrive in a community that is warm, welcoming, supportive, and uplifting. That’s one of the MANY reasons why we choose to house our artists in a beautiful Airbnb near Music Row.
This particular weekend was made even more special, thanks to the support of Susie Cakes, who provided a gorgeous (and incredibly delicious) cake!
New Microphones!
Every artist needs a microphone that is reliable and can travel with them through thick and thin. Thanks to our partnership with Ryan Smith and Shure Microphones, each artist was provided with their very own Shure SM58!
Fun Fact— the SM58 has been “battle tested” in order to maintain its integrity in extreme temperatures and varying weather conditions. The SM58 is one of the most durable and reliable microphones of all time!
Music History Tour
As we all know, Nashville is home to some of the most incredible and most influential recording studios in the world. Some of the greatest hits ever written were recorded in studios on Music Row.
Our artists were provided a special tour of RCA studios, previously home to many famous artists, including: Dolly Parton, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson, The Beach Boys, Amanda Palmer, Paramore, Elvis Presley, Ben Folds, Tony Bennett, and more!
The New Roots artist intensive would not be complete without a tour of the history of our beautiful city.
STUDIO TIME
Each artist gets the opportunity to record the vocals to the song of their choice in the famous, Starstruck Entertainment Studio. This is a very special day, as everyone gets to premier their music and work in a state-of-the-art recording studio.
Our artists have access to the best music gear in the world, with a production team that is world class.
GIBSON GARAGE TOUR
Quite possibly one of the most unique aspects of this past weekend’s intensive was our intimate tour of the Gibson Garage and the secret guitar vault!
Gibson was kind enough to give us a personal tour, showcasing several of their vintage guitars and providing our artists with the opportunity to witness Les Paul history.
Did you know the Gibson Guitar vault in Nashville houses a collection of guitars worth over $2 million!?
ELITE COACHES
At New Roots Empower, we prioritize community and education. As part of the teaching process, we bring in music industry professionals that are the top of their craft and dedicated to supporting our developing artists.
This weekend’s coaches were SUPERB, ranging from experts in digital marketing, social media, and release strategy, to styling, branding, and a multi-hit songwriting coach.
Sheridan and I keep our notebooks handy during every session. We are STILL learning and always find something to take away from each of our sessions.
